In this enchanting episode of Idy Talks, hosts Eric and Joanne join Brian Straka of Astrocamp and Rosa Montes of Idyllwild Rotary to unveil the magic behind their upcoming event, Dinner Under the Stars, happening on Saturday, September 13th, in Idyllwild. This one-of-a-kind evening, co-hosted by the Idyllwild Rotary Club and Astro Camp, promises an unforgettable blend of fine dining, stargazing, and community connection—all for a great cause.
Rosa shares the inspiration for the event, drawing from a similar experience in Sedona, and explains how they’ve elevated it with Astro Camp’s state-of-the-art telescopes and expert astronomers. Guests will enjoy a decadent four-course Italian dinner crafted by Executive Chef Gian Pucci, featuring highlights like prime rib, lemon-grilled chicken, homemade lobster ravioli, and vegan-friendly butternut squash ravioli. The evening will also include specialty cocktails, wine, and non-alcoholic options, ensuring something for everyone.
Brian dives into the stargazing experience, detailing the high-powered telescopes and the celestial wonders attendees can expect to see, including Saturn and deep-sky objects. Astro Camp’s knowledgeable instructors will be on hand to guide guests through the night sky, making this a truly interactive and educational experience.
The event also features live piano music, a raffle with incredible prizes (like an overnight stay at Astro Camp and PGA West golf packages), and optional activities like axe throwing and zip lining. With a hard cap of 70 attendees, this intimate gathering is designed to foster community connections while raising funds for Astro Camp scholarships, providing kids with life-changing opportunities to explore science and nature.
